The high value placed by the Australian community on human life and the coastal environment has driven AMSA to implement a robust Port State Control (PSC) regime to ensure that the large number of foreign ships trading to Australia are in a condition that does not pose a threat to life, property or the environment.

Port State control has become the greatest  tool available to Government Agencies to promote, and ensure compliance of International Conventions.  Substandard vessels find it increasingly difficult to slip through the PSC inspection network in Australia.   Some owners and operators may be unfamiliar with the stringent standards and procedures AMSA actually applies during PSC. Maritime Safety Vision Productions (MSVP) understands these concerns within the shipping industry.  Owners, Operators and Ship's Staff may want to better comprehend Australian PSC procedures.

MSVP is a newly established company with a sound expertise in producing audio visual products in order to promote maritime and environment safety, and to convey a positive message to all seafarers.

Recently we have produced a training program - "Port State Control in Australia".

This combines precious historical footage, with fresh documentary shots to explain the effective procedures used by AMSA surveyors during   Port State Control inspections in Australia. It provides an insight into how AMSA actually conducts PSC inspection with the purpose of eliminating unseaworthy and substandard vessels from Australian waters.
